No one really enjoys going to the dentist. It’s kind of boring and scary when a stranger constantly pokes your gum and drills your teeth. However, dentists across the country are starting to change that trend.
They are offering their patients noise-canceling headphones, light snacks, and warm eucalyptus- or lavender-scented towels. They even let their patients watch their favorite shows on Netflix while they are getting their teeth drilled.
Wesley Smith, a partner at Warmstone Family Dentistry in Ottawa, Ontario, which opened on July 2017, explains that they wanted this experience to resemble a spa.
Warmstone is a clinic that was built on the idea that modern dental practices can thrive by transforming tooth care into a much more ideal experience. The team looked at modern restaurants, hotel, and spa salons before building this clinic, and they wanted to treat their patients like they are visiting a spa.
Warmstone, and Heritage Dental Spa and Salon in Bluffton, South Carolina, is described as a “dental spa”. These clinics minimize patient’s anxiety about going to the dentist. According to a 2015 study conducted by the ADA, 22 percent of adults who hadn’t visited the dentist in a year cited fear as a reason for not going more often.
Amenities like espresso bars and massage chairs help make patients feel more comfortable and relaxed. It also encourages patients to return back and guarantees better dental health.
Bethesda Sedation Dentistry
These sorts of fancy amenities aren’t common in dental practices yet, so it will definitely help you bring in more patients and retain the current ones. Also, people are more likely to go on social media and review their experience, which is free marketing for your business!
Warmstone has done well in Canada’s highly competitive dental market and attracts more than 100 new patients each month, which is well above the industry standard.
However, some dentists still believe that what patients really want is a painless experience, a clean office, and getting treated on time.
