During this year’s AAPD conference, the focus was about giving and making sure every child receives a caring dental home. On May 22, 2019, the AAPD Foundation volunteers gathered for the Dental Home Day 2019. This event is a way to help the underserved children in the Chicago area receive access to dental care. Throughout the course of the day, 80 children received exams, cleanings, and treatment for dental issues. Thanks to the generosity of the members and donors, AAPD Foundation has helped more than 500,000 children find Dental Homes, however, the fight is far from over! The Foundation raised $177,000 during its annual Gala at The Art Institute to support community-based efforts providing Dental Homes to children from families who cannot afford care.
Under the leadership of Dr. Rutkauskas, the AAPD has grown immensely since his start in 1999. The membership numbers have grown by nearly 6,500 members and each annual session has managed to outdo the previous again and again. Dr. Rutkauskas is known and admired around the office for the love of his family, including his two American Bulldogs, his alma mater, Northwestern University, and food. The AAPD headquarters staff are excited about what the future with him at the helm will bring!
